I'll be in Richmond, Virginia this weekend, spending time with the good Dr. LP and generally decompressing. But there's also music to be consumed in the form of the University of Richmond's ambitious Third Practice Electroacoustic Music Festival, which is being held on Friday and Saturday at the university's Modlin Center for the Arts. (You'll find the voice of Dr. LP herself on the center's website, reporting on upcoming events in a series of "Modcasts" -- an obvious yet catchy term I'll confess to having coined.)
One of those concerts, on Friday night, features the always adventurous and enjoyable eighth blackbird, who I've not heard since they recently inducted new flutist Timothy Munro. The group's blog, which was launched on Wednesday (and for which Munro has apparently been conscripted as anchorman), contains a few hints as to what's in store on Friday night.
I don't know whether I'll be connected before I return on Monday. So, until then...
