Thank you for this review! I'm going to see the piece performed at London's Barbican Hall tomorrow night -- having only just discovered Golijev from a radio broadcast of Ainadamar -- and your enthusiasm and enjoyment have really whetted my appetite!

OhMyTrill

A different type of Passione was happening at Eastman this week...that of Louis Andriessen. The composer was in town for a few days and heard performances of that work as well as a concert featuring Worker's Union (and other works by Bang on a Can composers).

I still have yet to discover any music by Golijev...I know many people who have played the Dreams and Prayers of Issac the Blind, but I have yet to hear a note of it! I should add it to my must listen list.

And I love Selmasongs.
